Explore on two wheels

The Old Vicarage is an ideal base for exploring the whole of the mid-Wales area, as well as the Marches, Shrewsbury and other destinations.
We are ideally placed as a base or a stop-over if you are exploring the area on two wheels whether cycling, biking, bmx or motor cycle...or if you want to off-road.

We have secure cycle storage available at The Old Vicarage, along with washdown facilities and toolkits.  We can also provide packed lunches.  There are cycle shops in both Rhayader and Llanidloes.

Here are some ideas to wet your appetite...

National Cycle Routes
Llangurig is situated on a number of Sustrans national cycle routes, including Route 8 (Lon Las Cymru - Cardiff to Holyhead) and Route 81.

The Trans-Cambrian Way
This long distance mountain bike route runs through the Cambrian Mountains from Knighton to Machynlleth, passing through Llangurig – which is recommended as an overnight stop.

More biking
The area around Llangurig has several local routes, and we are able to provide maps and guides to these in both English and Welsh.

Off-road biking
There are good opportunities locally for off-roading experiences, and we work with two local partners who offer these, as well as training courses.  See our links below to these partners.

Sweet Lamb complex
The Sweet Lamb complex, just outside Llangurig, is an internationally renowned centre for off road biking, and we work closely with the team there.
